THE VISION

Hellmouth is an arts and cultural publication, highlighting regional art through quality discussion and community voices to foster meaningful dialogue about regional art and the general contemporary art work at large.

We encourage cultural exchange through engaging and academic, yet clear and concise compositions. The magazine will give opportunity to writers and artists alike to comment on an array of topics- through artist interviews, op-eds, essays, critiques, and features. Hellmouth aims to be a platform for artists and writers alike. So please reach out!

THE MISSION

Art reflects culture. Western culture is seemingly trapped in postmodernist thought which lacks profound newness. This forms the basis of our philosophy: a critical examination of culture, seeking sacredness amidst perceived nihilism. While not explicitly present in every article, this philosophy underpins our collective approach and is important to retain.

Our dialogue, rooted in aesthetics and philosophy, aims to cultivate nuanced perspectives, elevate beauty, and promote critical literacy. Our approach is reconstructive rather than deconstructive, departing from the prevalent institutional norms on the bases of reviving the new sacred and new mythologies; how can we render the overarching zeitgeist towards something that is rich in meaning and abundant in inherent value?

THE GRAND PLAN

A quarterly print magazine for cultural journalism.

We believe tactile media with physicality builds personal connection and has a special intimate quality that digital media does not.

Hellmouth aims to create a valued object which readers can treasure, and recognize themselves through the publication-- be that their art, their word, or simply its aesthetic beauty.

Help support our goal of a print publication.
