war

Blazing red horse, weapons raised,
Battles splitting continents and peoples,
War wages in whispered policies,
Surveillance cameras replacing swords-
Do not resist.

What may seem to affect OTHERS, impacts us ALL.

Violence Exists on all levels, from Global to Local.

The state, the government, the powers that be, those with the power to punish, ultimately are separate from “the people.” Us. You and me. No matter how different we may be or think we may be.

How often do we feel unrepresented and helpless in the face of the government’s decisions?

Globally, this looks like wars overseas and ever encroaching terror from the tv screen. When will it come to your neighborhood? Has it already? This question lingers thick in the air. We are all scared, so we must stick together. We cannot divide. Locally, the violence creeps in through the forms of surveillance and loss of free speech.

The very values our country proclaims to hold sacred are being stripped away.

Freedom of Speech / Freedom of Religion

what can we do?

Raise Awareness:

  • Talk to each other. How do we repair our torn communities without speaking to each other?

  • Visual communication of your message through art

  • Expression through words, music, and art

Engage:

  • Attend city council meetings.

  • Call your representatives to demand change.

  • Join groups that support causes you are passionate about! Listen and learn.

Act:

  • Organize protests, whether that looks like a march in the streets, a boycott of certain companies, or a choir singing the good word.

  • Step up when and where you can. If you see a need, help fill it. But don’t over exhaust yourself. We’re in this struggle for the long-run.

  • Boycott companies and organizations which participate in unjust practices
